The String Beans
The String Beans, the popular Lincoln band that has delighted kids at schools, festival and charity events across southeastern Nebraska, will perform before the last two Jazz in June concerts this year, June 17 and 24, in the Sheldon Museum of Art auditorium. Children must be accompanied by an adult. There will be stroller-parking corral inside the Sheldon's Great Hall.
The band will play from 6:15 to 6:45 p.m. and as with all Jazz in June programs, it's free. Composed of brothers Curt and Randy Bright and guitarist/drummer Freddy Kerr, the band offers songs with silly lyrics and catchy tunes designed to entertain and teach. Children are encouraged to sing along and learn about antonyms in the song "Opposites." The alphabet comes alive in "Gophers in Loafers," and kids become roaring dinosaurs during a fossil hunt in "Diggin' Dinosaurs."
Come to Jazz in June early and enjoy the String Beans. For more information about the band, go to its web site.
